THE CUT AND RUN STORY

We’re not the only hair salon in Stoke Newington. But we’re the only one that started life on the back of a motorcycle, with hundreds of locations in Southeast Asia.

Our love for the craft

Cut and Run was born when owners David and Tera put an end to a long-distance relationship by rendezvousing in Bangkok for the adventure of a lifetime.

Backpacks bulging with barely enough clothes and more than enough hairdressing equipment, we spent a year traveling from place to place by motorcycle, with a hand-drawn ‘Cut and Run’ poster to advertise whatever makeshift shop we could cobble together. Eventually, we found a semi-permanent home at the High Tide hostel in Kampot, Cambodia, and realised that a salon like ours was missing from the scene in London.

Once we made it back home, we didn’t waste any time. We found our current home at the infamous cobbled ‘yard’ in Stoke Newington – backed by our friends, neighbours, and fellow motorcycle lovers at BOLT London and Zippo Records X Ecstatic Peace Library. We’ve never looked back.

Nomadic no more

Cut and Run has gone from strength to strength at its permanent location, and we’re proud to be part of a growing community of creative businesses that aren’t afraid to try a different approach.

It’s worked out pretty well so far. We’ve added to our team with stylists Jem, Ruth, Sophie, and Vanessa – and the future’s looking bright. With a salon that we’ve put our own personal stamp on, and an always-growing client list full of people that we’re always happy to see, we can’t wait for whatever comes next.
